Best way to create Banners/Thumbnails?

Right now We are using a combination of Gimp, which is free, and Powerpoint which we already had.
Gimp works great for creating art, editing pictures, and layering your work. It also does a good job at exporting pictures to other formats.
Powerpoint is great for the graphic design work like title formatting, word art and effects, it is also incredible for animation, like an intro video!

I recommend using photoshop. Other programs have restrictions so photoshop really let's you let out your imagination. If your gonna add you own drawings i reccomend you also get Illustrator to.

If you don't wanna buy or pirate the program paint.net is also a good one OR.
Use your resources there's alot of online people on yttalk who do graphics free. So just contact them!

Photoshop is the best, I'm doing my banners and thumbnails almost 2 years. There are a lot of GFX packs, text style packs etc. that will give you very good effects and make your banner look more professional. But you gonna need to learn how to use photoshop, there're tutorials on youtube so i don't think you gonna have problem. :D

I use Paint.Net because it's free but honestly it's very limited there has got to be something much better out there.
