You can do anything with After Effects
Hands down the best program if you're looking for a sole program (which isn't the best option)

I have used both Final Cut Pro X and Premiere Pro CS6 and both are really good. Final Cut Pro X is going to be around $300 while Premiere Pro is (I believe) $50 a month. Final Cut Pro may be a bit easier to use (this is just my opinion) and a bit more user friendly. But Premiere Pro is quickly becoming an industry standard video editor in Hollywood and in the Indie Film world.

I like SpeedEdit 2 (i pirate.. shh). It's pretty f*****g expensive though, and i think its only for windows.
