I've found that Sony Vegas isn't the best at rendering and compressing videos as I would like it to be. So, instead, I actually render out of Vegas with a lossless codec (lagarith) and then use Media Encoder to compress it down. Seems to work better for me.
I don't have a tutorial for it yet, but for now all you really need to do is download and install the lagarith lossless codec. Occasionally there's compatibility issues with computers, so if this codec doesn't work for you, you can use the HuffyYuv codec instead. It's also a lossless codec and works the same.Ah, I have realised that too. Sounds interesting, do you have some sort of tutorial for doing it?
Will definitely try this out sometime! After you have the codec, here's the settings I used for Vegas

And once that's rendered, I drag and drop it into Adobe Media Encoder and use these settings.

You might have to play around with the settings in Media Encoder, but these seem to work with my Vlogs perfectly, but it's at least a starting point! Hopefully that helps somewhat.
As much as I hate to say it, Vegas Pro sucks at rendering with AMD recent gpu from 7xxx to R series. Due to the outdated codec, you cannot use its opencl capabilities to help render the video.
My HD 6950 renders faster 10mins(render time) in 25mins of video
R9 280X renders slowly 45mins(render time) in 25mins of video. This is due to the outdated codec of Mainconcept. Heck, even the Sony AVC does not utilize it.
This may be off topic. Just note that higher bit does not mean higher quality.
Currently the one I am usingWorks at all versions of Sony Vegas Pro, I use 10 and it is a great render settings.
