Best software for thumbnails, channel art etc...

Hi guys.

I know there are several programs you can use to create; channel logos, channel art, thumbnails, etc... Which do you guys use? Which do you think are the best?

I'm currently trying to use GIMP but I can't get my head around it.
I use a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (bare in mind that both of these are much more complex and harder to get to grips with than GIMP)

I am aware that Photoshop is meant to be the best one for making thumbnails, but its just so expensive. Does anyone know of any good discounts going for it?

Well, you could try a couple of resource(s).

Online (Free):
Pixlr (Closest to Photoshop)
FotoFlexer
SplashUp

Best 3, i can recommend to you if you don't want to download any software.

Software (Free):
GIMP (Cross-platform, closest to Photoshop)
Paint.NET (Windows-only)
InkScape (Cross-platform)
Seashore (Mac-only)

Software (Paid):
Photoshop (Best thing, if you have the money to spend on it)
Pixelmator (Mac-only, like Photoshop)

@RobbieLizzie, they have student discounts: adobe.com/education/students.edu.html?showEduReq=no

Ah cool, will check out their discounts. I'm not a student anymore, but may see if I can get my workplace to pay towards it, as I could use it in my Youth Work right enough
