Best settings for DSLR recording for Youtube

My video quality is alright but it seems like it should be better. I have a Nikon 3200 and to be honest, I'm not even sure what my settings are on...

I'm not talking about like focusing and stuff like that, I'm talking about shutter speed, ISO, F Stop settings and stuff like that? Are there optimal settings for youtube? Any suggestions? I litterally picked up this camera a little over a month ago and just started shooting videos without really thinking about it, but I feel like there must be better settings than what I'm using, haha
 
Thanks, no I know how to use the camera, navigate the menu and change settings... (watched some YouTube tutorials, ha) I just was curious as far as YouTube goes what the best settings are...

I usually use the "Auto" setting, which you think would be fine... I don't know if that pertains to the video settings?

I have a Canon DSLR, so I don't know how well this information will translate. I've been using this camera for just under a year and made the upgrade from my iPad. Talk about an UPGRADE! Anyway, it took a few months for me to get used to the settings and find out what looked best on YouTube. Obviously, you want to make sure that you're set to shoot in 1080p. If you're wanting something that looks really smooth and cinematic, you want to shoot at a rate of 24fps. That's standard film rate as far as I know. If you're using natural/daytime lighting, you can set your ISO to auto and your camera should pick what's best for your particular light quality. I usually set it on auto, let it get settled, and then bump it up once or so. I like my videos a bit brighter than what it would be on auto. As far as f/stop settings go, that's going to depend on your lens. Also, what kind of videos do you film? I do fashion/beauty/diy videos and I have a Sigma 30mm lens with a max f/stop of 1.4, which when used at that setting, gives me a really nice, smoothly blurred out background. That blurry background/shallow depth of field (and this lens in particular) is very popular with beauty/fashion YouTubers. The kit lens that came with my t5i was absolute rubbish for that! I realized what look I wanted, researched how to get it, and came up with the lens I have now. The lens is really what makes it, it my opinion. My videos have gone from decent and clear HD to the next level. Like I said, I have an almost cinematic quality to my videos with my current combo.

To try and sum all that up:
- 1080p
- 24 fps
- auto ISO and then tweak from there based on lighting situation
- set your f/stop (aperture) depending on your preferred DOF

Thanks, I think I have it set to 1080p and 24FPS but I guess I could tweak the ISO maybe... make them brighter... I know what all these settings did already, but just wanted some feedback for optimal settings...

Mostly it's the boys talking to each other, but I do have segments where I do incorporate a nice Boca in the background (blurry background) when they are doing interview segments... nice channel ;)
