Best Pc recording software?

JollyDangerous

I Love YTtalk
I in need of a new capture software.
No FRAPS the files are to large
No Dxtory same problem as above
No Mirillis action. Software was great but now I cant even get it to load let alone record consistently.
They also have crappy support staff. If you call community members technical support staff.

So anything out there? Im trying to record for LoL

So I've tried FRAPS, Jing, Snagit and Camtasia

Fraps is easily the best performing one, especially seeing your framerate, and it's lack of CPU Usage while playing. The filesize while large shouldn't be a problem at all, if it is due to space on your computer you need to clear some stuff out :P If your computer is too small you can easily buy a cheap external harddrive. There is a FB page called '10 ways to save money as a student without having a job' and I regularly see 2TB harddrives for like 25 pounds on there. Most laptops these days come with plenty of storage to use FRAPS though, and a rendered video takes like 95% of the filesize out. Even if that is worrying you there's all sort of software - eg Handbrake - that will reduce filesize with no discrepency to the video file itself.

Jing - Poor framerate while using, I liked that you could pick the section of screen meaning you can record just browser footage but I wouldn't pick this up.

Snagit - when it records video it only takes the first frame and records the audio after that, it could just have been my experience but don't pick this up.

Camtasia - I like using Camtasia and being able to choose the recorder size and able to record browser usage is useful, and it comes with it's own editor but thats a massive hindrance to me because I use a third party editor to edit my YouTube videos which means I have to render out of Camtasia Studios 8 into an mp4 as it saves the auto as a .trec and .camproj and rendering times can be absurd. Also I notice it uses more CPU than FRAPS meaning lower framerates in open games. I only have a laptop however, this should be a void point to anyone with a dedicated gaming system.

I'd say go with FRAPS but if you're absolutely against it pick up Camtasia because it does the job you ask.

Jeez louise that is large, whenever I used fraps to record Dota (50 minutes or so) that only becomes say 30-40GB!

Even so, I don't know about other software but importing time into lightworks isn't dependant of file size so there isn't any real cons to a big filesize besides having to delete the raw footage whenever you have finished production on a video.

It was mine craft and the more the game loaded the worse the frame rate got.

Open broadcaster software is my favorite so far and I've tried all that you've listed. It does have some capture problems with emulators and specific games that force you to capture screen rather than application.
If you're going to buy a capture card in the future for console capture I'd highly suggest using it for PC gameplay as well. If your computer isn't powerful enough to run a game on max and run capture software just use the capture card and you'll be good. I have an Elgato HD that I'm very happy with.

Yea I forgot all about my Elgato I forgot I can use it for my PC as well Thanks

Try compressing your videos using a program called "handbrake". It can turn that 90gb file to Fractions. I always use it with fraps, and when I'm done exporting video edits.

Here are some reasons why you should consider getting this program:

1. It's open sourced
2. Quality will stay the same
3. Reduced file size garuntee
4. Fast and easy to use
5. Noticeably Faster upload times

Hope this helps

I'd use Dxtory but get the lagarith lossess cdec, itll decrease your file output by 10 or so percent, its still a big chunk of memory but its worth it. Or you camstasia, that works as well!!
