Best lighting for filming youtube inside

Hey guys!

Just come back from an intense exam period and I am ready to youtube again.

The problem is that I live in Denmark. A country which gets very dark during winter, which makes it extremely hard to use natural light to film my youtube videos.

I am therefore looking for some recommendations regarding getting some good light in my videos. I have been looking around this forum, youtube and google, but I feel like 'lighting' is a jungle, and I am having a hard time figuring out what the best option is.

The lights / lighting I need, is basically light which enables me to film in a room which is almost completely dark during the winter.

Hope you guys can help me :)

Try umbrella lights! :)
I just bought mine on eBay and I can't wait for them to come! I see a lot of top youtubers using em!

OK hey there is a cheap way to do this...

China Balls..

They are very inexpensive and create a nice soft even lighting... You can get normal floor lamps and put these on top...
I use them all the time and have used them for shooting short films. As do many other people....

Also they range in price from 1 dollar USA to 15 dollars depending on size and you can get them in different colors to change the mood of the shot.

Sounds cool! Which one have you bought?

It depends on your budget i guess. You can spend loads on lighting if you felt so inclined. Personally i use the 3 point lighting technique and some desk lamps i bought at ikea

I do have a 3 point lighting kit from Cowboy Studio Lighting as well but don't use it for our show. I use it for doing interviews for work.

Our set is entirely lit using China Balls and I even have some colored light bulbs in some of them to add a splash of color...

A good Lighting kit (3 point) on amazon will run you anywhere from 50.00 USA to super expensive depending what you want to pay.. I payed 75 for my 3 point kit...

Now for under 30 bucks you can have 4 or 5 floor lamps and china balls and you will look great.. One thing to remember when shooting is make sure you have a light on the ground behind you to help separate you from the back ground... it helps you pop out more..

I just use a softbox i got for like 15 euro on ebay
But its not as good as id like it to be

Id say try out @JohnKenShow idea with the china balls while saving up for some really good lighting
I really like circle ring lights they are amazing but expensive :P

Sorry for off topic, but I highly recommend you to move away from the door and fridge behind you. The shadows in your back look awful (and I can't really see a proper use of 3 point lightning).

@VictoriaFlamel
Lightning up a dark room properly isn't that easy. When I was on a camera team, filming a crime series for the TV, we where putting huge lights in front of the windows so even when it was completely dark outside, it looked like it's daytime. Here is how it looked like. Now, I don't think you feel like putting this huge thing in your garden, but putting some soft boxes out with some strong (STRONG!) light bulbs in it should give you a decent light in your room. I have 125 watt energy saving, equivalent to "650 Watt old light" bulbs and they really lighten up my room.

Sounds difficult. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't rely on natural lighting. Maybe there's a peak time of day (early morning) which might work? Sorry if I've made a completely irrelevant comment, I'm not familiar with Denmark.
