Just want to point out that sound is more important than video make sure you got your sound sorted out before you worry about video but a tripod is a must just for making your life easier when it comes to making videos XD also if you are gonna make videos say in your bedroom to get the best lighting record the video by the window and not in a dark corner before i had soft boxes i used to get up at 5am for the best lighting but you don't have to be as crazy as i was
The sound is sorted out :) Have a great microphone! :D

and thanks for the lighting tips! :)
I think i'm gonna try to use a lamp? :P

Lamp in front of you would be nice (3-point lighting) but using daylight is probably the best because it won't be too harsh on you. Even pros use daylight :D

Otherwise, just get a cheap tripod, a cheap smartphone mount, and use the back of your camera in landscape mode for best quality.

Most smartphones these days record in 1080p (or more *cough* note 4) and you probably need to invest quite a bit before the quality of dedicated cameras really start to exceed the quality.

Well, I've heard of people rigging a mirror to their phone, so they can use the back camera and still can see if they're in frame. It's at least something to consider.
