Attention all film makers!
Hey there. My name is Elissa and I am a beginning film maker. Truthfully, I have no clue how to film short films, but I really do want to film them. My big question is: what should I buy first? I have an iPhone 5s that I am planning on using. I also have a Camcorder that I wasn't planning on using. I don't have any lights or microphones. What could I buy CHEAPLY to enhance my video performance? I can't do $700 lights or mics. And I also don't know if I should buy everything at once. So, what should I buy first?

Yo! Buy a Tripod for your iphone or camcorder, use the one that's got the better film quality (hd, full hd, 4k hd ect)
and better microphone/sound quality too.
Lighting, you can buy cheap umbrella lights for around £20-30 so that aint much problemo. If you watch my Trailer for my channel, you will see my lighting area for an example.
What's really important though is the editing software you will be using!

So Elissa what program are you going to use to edit your YouTubing gold?

The cheapest way to enhance your movie is a good script. Don't worry about equipment for now, just make sure you have an excellent script.

I haven't really thought about it...on my vlogging channel I always used iMovie. Do you suggest any editing software?

imovie Is great! Aslong as you weren't editing with Movie Maker or an app you're fine. I use Cyberlink Power Director Ultimate 13. It's also fantastic for what you can do and its now less than £50 in most places. Sony Vegas is good too but really expensive. Look for a recomendation thread but for now, stick with imovie :-)
