Before you give up

I'm not even making my video's for the reasons i thought i was when i started making video's for YouTube.

i started making video's mostly planning to focus on a hot rod car project i have. project kind of stalled out at about %80+ completion because its done enough to have fun with it and i am a busy person i kinda hate to take things back apart to fix little issues just kind of been driving it and enjoying it. i figured its a project a lot of viewers would like so if i started doing youtube video's people would want to see more of it and motivate me to get some other things done to it and if i could make a few bucks that could go to additional upgrades on the car that would be cool too and maybe open some doors to do some other fun stuff.

so i just kind of started filming some different things i had to get done around the shop anyway witch a lot of these topics were repairs on semi trucks/trailers so it just kind of became a truck repair channel....lol i still get enjoyment out of helping people and am having fun with it.

ill include a lot of different shop related topics/projects as i continue to make video's but the main focus of the channel has kind of become large truck repair.

I think almost all 'successful' YouTube personalities essentially only ever gain traction because they're doing what they enjoy.

My channel has flipped, flopped and floundered all over the place because everytime I start not to enjoy it, I find a way to switch it up and try something new. I trust that eventually in this way I'll find my voice/niche. To me, this is so much more important than branding or consistency, although I don't doubt the importance of those things, either.

YouTube is the only social media platform I've ever really enjoyed, because it's entirely focused on discoverability, and what's more fun than discovery?

Great post :-)
It's good to keep each other motivated and it is great to be able to talk with people that do the same.
If I talk to my friends about what i am doing, then they don't understand me. They don't understand why i spent so much time in creating videos for Youtube.

I feel very good here,...knowing that people understand the reason why i spent so much time, creating content for youtube,...Thanx !!!

I started to create youtube videos, cause i like to make children's theater. I used to perform a lot on festivals, party's and children's birthdays, but I wanted to
reach a bigger audience.

That's why i started to make a 3D cartoon world. I film myself in a green screen room and implement it with compositing software in the 3D scene.

So now i have my own, online Theater, where i can play my theater for children :-) I haven't got much subscribers yet,..but i still am able to
perform and make children laugh,...well at least that's what i try :-)

I think never giving up and always look what you good do better and talk with other youtubers could be the key to succes

I’ve been seeing so many of you guys on here lately saying you want to give up making videos because you’re not getting enough views or subscribers and that actually makes kinda of sad to see that you’re feeling defeated.

I know that feelin you put all your hard work into something and it feels like you’re not getting anywhere. you don’t feel good enough at it’s starting to get you and then you want to give up.

Before you give up ask yourselves these questions

Why did you make a channel in the first place? .......... if your answer is because of money and fame well that’s your very first mistake right there, that’s one of the worst reasons do youtube and you will come out feeling very disappointed with your outcome.

If you’re answer is because of fun, passion and you want to be creative with whatever your nich Is then hold on to that if you’re having fun with what you’re creating then that is a awesome thing, even if you’re channel isn’t growing but you’re happy with your hobby don’t give up!

Has YouTube helped you in any way?

For me YouTube has helped me come out of my shell, I use to be really shy and I didn’t want to talk to anyone because I was bullied so I was afraid that no one would would ever like me. Two years later after creating my channel I’m more outspoken than I ever was, I’m not afraid to be myself and I really don’t care what others have to say about me. YouTube has given me more than money and fame could ever buy and that is a voice!

I must say, Thanks for posting this I've been kinda dishearted cause I haven't been getting views or subs (In fact I lost a few). I don't feel like giving up per say mostly frustrated at lack of views etc. I didn't do this for money I do this because I love video games it's my passion.

You’re welcome I’m glad I could help a little bit. Good luck with your channel!

Thanks for this post, it helps a lot to know there are people who sometimes feels the same as me at times, my channel is still young i have been posting for 7 weeks but started making videos a month earlier.
The subs do not matter much to me at the moment nor really the views, as long as I can see a little growth every now and then, I do seem to have hit a wall at the moment and do sometimes wonder why I am doing this,
then remember it was never for the views ( not now at least ) and mainly to do what I find fun, and so far the video editing side is so much more fun then I ever thought it would be.
As long as you are having fun and enjoying making videos and making the most of every interaction you get that is good, but if you find all this a chore then maybe it is time for a little break.

Nice post, but im one of those guys... sorry i have to be that guy..but money is a very valid reason to start youtube. Fame is dumb.. i agree there but money is fair game.
I am purely motivated by money, yes i enjoy what i create but its all for the sake of money. There is no point in making youtube without any sort of turn around. This is no longer youtube 2008-10 were it was actually YOUtube, now is "farm tube" or "grind tube" or "kidstube" were everything you to is to please the masses one way or another.

Not really that’s why you get a job. YouTube is something that can help people who like acting, siging and creating open up opportunities for them yes eventually some people will be able quite their job and due YouTube and something else to make living off of. You have to get a certain amount of views on videos to start making money anyways and a lot of times that doesn’t happen right way or it never happens and you be very disappointed with the outcome then if money is the only reason.

Yes youtube will help you in certain things like the ones you mentioned above. If you have a hobby it "might" eventually allow for peopel to quit jobs and make a living on youtube. But the majory have to modify their content in order to attract views. The cold reality of this world is that noone gives a s**t about what you do and its up to you to convinc eothers WHY they gotta like your content.Note that i am in noway disagreeing with you becuase what you said its 100% truth, but so its what i am saying. People in life have different reasons to do what they do, youres seems to be the self growth among other things doing youtube comes with wish is all fine but in my case is money.
That alone is enough to motivate me till the end of time but like anything dissapointment is always around the corner and so far it has been 4 years of up and downs. This does not mean my dissapointment will make me quite but rather make me angry and make 2 more channels, im down to 4 of them. 1 is my main one other 3 are experimental channels to see what attracts people. You tube is a bussines and i treat it like one, failure to see that will only make things more difficult.

This is the only reason why my channel grows tbh. Noone cared about my passion content, so i said f**k it, do what masses like and boom...growth.

Sometimes some things don’t work for everyone. My passion helped me grow with just being on YouTube for just a little bit of time and lot of people around my age can relate to what I’m passionate about, but not every channel can grow that way I understand that. What works for one person doesn’t always work for other people. Is your main channel the channel that’s linked to profile?[DOUBLEPOST=1523915216,1523915200][/DOUBLEPOST]
