Becoming comfortable with YouTube?

I find myself most comfortable making videos when I pretend my audience is a friend I'm talking to. The topic should be something I have a lot to say on and it helps to have an outline or script written out before hand to make sure there's little deadspace and the conversation is more natural sounding.

At the end of last year, I started making YouTube videos, which I deemed to be fun to make. Several months later, I re-watched them and found them stupid and rather annoying - they slightly made me seem like a a**e-hole. I could tell that I was awkward being in front of the Camera, and even when I was recording I had to make sure no one was home. I never told my friends about me making YouTube videos either, I had mentioned to my Girlfriend that I was thinking about it.

My question to you is, how can I make myself become more comfortable with making videos again?
I would like to do something funny, or something people can relate to.

Thanks for reading!

You have to be comfortable with yourself if you want to make it on YouTube. Confidence is key to any success story. Also remember you only live once so take no chance; just go with it and breathe.

Practice, practice in front of a mirror or script it until you feel more comfortable. You can only get better by getting back into it, I'm a lot more comfortable compared to my older videos and I got that by just doing it, you will get into your YouTube groove and then its all guns blazing

This is great advice. I couldn't of say it better myself. Smart man.[DOUBLEPOST=1369111372][/DOUBLEPOST]
I think this is great.. I don't think I ever told my friends about my videos either. It's just more of a fun experimental thing and I think it's therapeutic to make them. So keep it up and try not to worry too much about it

just do it, the only way to be comfortable with it is to do it.

I think NIKE told me to "Just Do It" before and now I'm a father.

I think a coolness factor is important to be able to feel comfortable. I've only ever made one video that I thought was "cheesy" or not really me and I didnt do it again. Theres a YouTube style that people are replicating so much now. If youre a cool dude then make cool videos.
