It will be a new layout, that means that the background are removed and u will just have a banner above your channel.

When would I be able to opt in? It was supposed to be today, and YT is currently updating meaning your inbox would be messed up. XD

It was supposed to be today (end of February) and in March we'd be forced to have it. And right now YouTube is updating; meaning that when you go to your inbox and check the unread messages / comments, they'll still say unread.
