Consider the Shure VP83 if you don't like the rubber bands on the Rode. It's Shure's version of the videomic pro, but with a Rycote mount, all metal construction and a single AA battery goes around 120 hours before you have to replace it. Price is roughly the same. You'll see an improvement as the preamps in the Zoom are quieter than the ones on your camera.
I will have to check that out, I havent touched the audio settings on the camera in a long time. What I was considering was getting a Zoom recorder and recording into that using the videmic for the time being until I upgrade the mic. Would I notice a difference recording into the Zoom from the videomic rather than have the camera process the audio?
