Audio Check Please :)

I just bought my first microphone for video, and I think the results are pretty good, compared to the onboard mic anyway. And I only spend about £20 on a Takstar sgc-598.

Would appreciate some outsider feedback, especially tips from an expert :D

ugh god. im sorry. im not an expert on audio so i cant explain to you why i dont like it lol. its like. to...loud? its not exactly the volume but like.....is it the treble? i want to say the audio doesnt have enough bass but im not sure thats quite it. like the quality is fine its just....f**k i cant explain it lol sorry. if this makes no sense just ignore it. maybe its the peaks of the audio?

i ofcourse have the youtube video max(and my headphones in) but when i turn my volume down to like 8 its not so much a problem but when i turn it back up to 12ish-16 its just kinda....loud just ignore this post lol i should probably delete it
 
Crumbs. I guess I'll have to save up for the better mic after all. The takstar is a bit poor on the bass. :(

Ah well, at least I think its better than the onboard audio
 
I used to work in radio and tv. The new mic is good. Don’t worry about that. But you are not talking directly into it and there’s too much sound bouncing around in the room. Yea with coooking it might be hard to do, but try to do more voice overs to mask this

Got a mic stand and boom delivered yesterday, video didn't workout because it got really dark and the lighting I thought would be able to cope... didn't... but the audio was a lot better. It's sitting on the floor, so I can put stuff on the table without causing a racket, and its now about 10 inches above my mouth pointing right at me.

So hopefully going forward audio is going to be a past problem. Might get some audio panels and stick them up on the wall behind the camera, nice white ones so I can just leave them there, and maybe on top of all the cupboards and stuff. Should be enough to suck most of the reverb out of the room. Though, I am sure I have heard people say that a little reverb is not so bad - but that might be a facet of being so used to hearing the reverb, and it now just sounds odd when its not there (is that a thing, no reverb is better right?)
