Audience Retention Rate ....what's yours ?

For me it depends on the video. For my 5-6 minute commentaries, it's often over 50%. For my ~20 minute Let's Play videos, it varies wildly from 15% (usually cutscene heavy episodes) to 40%+ (usually more action heavy parts).

67% when you have two minute videos isn't very good. Audience Retention is just one part of the equation. The over-all Watch Time is more important. That is the cumulative total minutes being watched on your channel.

My Audience Retention is about 40%. Just using one of my recent 8 minute videos as an example. It has a much lower retention than you. It has only 42% retention. However, that means that the average watch time is 3:19. YouTube is very favorable to recommend videos that get more watch time.

If your video and mine were similar, YT is more likely to recommend mine because of my watch time rather than yours with the higher Audience Retention percentage.

My sharing this information is to encourage you to look at more than just one statistic. It is not to promote mine or minimize yours. Best wishes on your continued growth.
 
I think he is right. Yeah i'm in the crapper in both worlds on that one. My audience retention is really low, as well as my view time. I'd like to think I make entertaining content, but it seems people love to click and turn away. lol
 
It's one thing to think that something is right or to know it.
Just to assume because it would make sense or it fits into my own believe doesn't help.
That's why I was asking for the source.
