usually at the point where they're generally recognizable in the community they're part of.

I think the moment you start to get recognized while you are filling up your car or doing your grocery shopping. That is when you are famous. If that doesn't happen on a daily basis? Not famous. Many famous YouTubers still manage to live in relative anonymity because their claim to fame is YouTube, not some Hollywood blockbuster!

Fame is relative. YouTube famous is different than what a lot of folks might consider famous. I'd say someone could consider themselves "YouTube famous" when, at any given moment, there are people discussing them or their channel on social media.

Youtube famous is when you are synonymous with your genre of Youtubing. Getting recognized outside in every day means you have transcended Youtube and are well recognized.
