Asking People To Checkout Your Channel

I think it's all about who, when, where and how you ask. As long as you aren't spamming indiscriminately and demanding people check out the greatness that is your channel, I think that asking people to check out your channel is fine.

Like the others said, it's a matter of when, how and where. Which is extremely rare.
I never visit when people ask.

I see those threads often, the ones I do respond to are if they have a specific question like, "check out my banner." or "check out my trailer/outro etc..."

I think asking depends on who and what you're asking for. Asking someone to just check out your channel? I wouldn't do it...I'd be like "check it out for what? pests? dust? disease?" But asking, "hey, got any advice on improving my let's play presentation? Watch my recent one, please." and then who you're asking should be someone you've interacted with. They play hand and hand; you wouldn't ask that of a stranger. Random viewers and strangers come along when they just kinda notice you around and seeing that you're a real person and have an opinion and something to say/offer. Then you build a network and networking is what it's all about. It's not just getting views or subscribers, but building your own little community and fan base where people enjoy what you'e doing and want to interact with you. Sorry I can go on about this all day! :)

I will close with: don't check out my channel, it's just a bunch of stuff that interests me, not sure about you, yet!

Thanks for the advice I am trying to build a fan base like you said more they just random subs

I am looking for more fans who regularly would comment and rate up my videos as I only have a handful out of the 250+ on my channel who do so.
