I've Got It
After successfully running my own channel, the owner of a legendary TV production company from my niche has contacted me and asked me to help set up and run channel for him. They were essentially the Disney of my niche, so it's a great opportunity.
The main problem is that lots of his stuff is already all over Youtube, having been uploaded for years by dozens of channel. He just never did anything about it.
We want this to be an official channel and the only place to watch his stuff. It will roughly consist of 80% clips of shows that aired on TV (that he owns the rights to), 10% unseen material, and 10% new material we're going to make for the channel. Channels that unofficially use his content have millions of views, so with the best quality and unique versions, this new channel could be really big.
So, here are a few questions I have:
1) I don't want to use full episodes on the channel, as clips will give much better results. I know we can't use both as there's a risk of getting hit with the duplication issue. How else could we serve the die-hard fans with the full episodes? Youtube premium? Send them to Vimeo?
2) My biggest concern is that we won't be the first channel to upload a lot of this stuff, BUT we are the copy write owners. I know that ContentID is the tool we need, but is it something you can set up straight away?
And then any general advice you could give. I'm experienced in running a personal channel, but this is my first time running a commercial channel.
