Article 13

I noticed this all over my YouTube dashboard last night. I tried to read through but its seems to be a lot of speculation at this point and there is nothing I can do so I will just ignore it.
If it turns off in the future, I will be gutted but I will survive.

BS, there is nothing you can do!

Bloody well get involved! Do a tweet; post to your Facebook or Instagram, and make the bloody politicians who are trying to kill our creativity Listen!

Today for the first time, EVO, I can truly say you are acting just like your avatar!

Hey everyone, have a look at this playlist and see what everyone else has done so far in the way of videos explaining and also expressing concern.

I don't like how extreme it is. It's barring all content containing copyrighted material even if the material falls under fair use. YouTube and other content platforms simply cannot risk it and will block all content from the EU. That's insane. Not good at all for content creators IMO.

I feel if YouTube is going to shut down any access to their content, it'd be more about pulling a political stunt rather than trying to follow the new law...I think they should already be able to comply to it with their Content ID program??? Some videos are already blocked for me in the United States (but could be viewed if I were in a different country), so this stuff is old news for YouTube. >.>

I think a lot of videos are already blocked in Germany because of GEMA (Germany's performance rights organization; sort of like ASCAP in the USA): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blocking_of_YouTube_videos_in_Germany; yet Germans are still one of my largest audiences. Part of me wants to call BS to all this "it'll shut down your access to YouTube and News!!" stuff, but then again, I think of all the (crazy) things that have happened with the current American president...anything is possible...I suppose...lol...

If Europeans really do become blocked, they will just pop on a proxy server and view the blocked videos that way. It'd be a waste of everyone's time...

nope if it is a payed vpn server. There is always profit on anything I guess.

Agree that

this stuff is old news for YouTube

as long as Google in other subjects, knows pretty well to push the limits and the EU.

random (news) link:
"Google will start charging Android device makers a fee for using its apps in Europe"

Does anyone know if it may be possible to upload (or view) from inside the EU after article 13 if they use a VPN?
