ARE YOUTUBERS ACTING TOO MUCH LIKE CELEBS?

I think some of them are but I can't blame them for getting caught up in their success. If I was receiving offers from MCNs telling me I could make lots of money, free stuff from companies in return for my endorsement and messages from viewers telling me they're fans, I think I'd struggle to stay humble too!
 
Some really don't. One massive example is Robbaz who has over 1 million subscribers but is still the same awkward Swedish YouTube so many have come to love because of his fascinatingly entertaining videos. I also know Markiplier tries to stay as humble as possible thought it does come off a times like he's trying a bit too hard.
 
Well thats a bit of generalization. I mean i've seen a select few that seem to think that way, but for the most part I don't see anyone doing anything that would come across that way. Even Pewdiepie. You telling me you would pass up the opportunities hes getting right now?
I think it's a non-issue.
 
Well by technicality they are celebrities. They're just a different kind of celebrity, like how pro sports players, musicians, scientists, actors and business men. They're just a celebrity in their own medium.
 
Were you meaning like what happened with TheFineBros and what they're doing with reaction videos as an example?
 
I would find it hard not to act somewhat like a celebrity if I knew I had hundreds of thousands of fands who are dependant on my content :P

Exactly. They're big in the name of the Youtube game... but they're basically nobodies anywhere else. I mean ask random people on the street who aren't online a major part of their day who Markiplier is and they won't know who you're talking about.
 
I wouldn't get such a big head if I could leave the house without the paparazzi showing up! :)

Seriously, though, the larger YouTubers are celebrities. They're a new breed of celebrity, but they are known by millions of people and are paid to basically be themselves. Maybe it's a turn-off for them to suddenly let all this new-found fame go to their heads, but recognition changes people.
