Are makeup tutorials actually helpful?

Hey everyone. I don't know how many people on here watch makeup tutorials, as I have barely seen any beauty gurus on this site. But I've been wondering about something, and I figure, I'd ask you guys, if anyone has any idea or opinion on the matter.

Should I post more tutorials? I dont know.....

Yeah, same here. I did music theater in high school so I have put on make up in the past, and I can say from experience that just basic make up is no big deal at all, if you just want anything. It's when you're going for a specific look, or new ways to match colors or something. I think it's more for special occasions, so it's not too "normal" in that sense. If it feels off for you, I'd simply do whatever feels right for you. Make the videos you find worth making! :)

Thanks for the advice. I think that last sentence makes a lot of sense. "Make the videos you find worth making". Yes, there can never be any progress in the world if we all stay stuck in one place. As far as theatrical makeup, thats a whole different ball game. I'm just talking every day makeup here. My last video was a Face of the Day (FOTD) video where I had a pink and purple smokey eye going on, and in the video I asked, was this FOTD video helpful enough, or would you rather have seen a tutorial? But I've already posted 2 eyeshadow tutorials and I applied this makeup the same way I applied it in those other ones. For me, I can just see a picture of a makeup look, and I have no problem recreating it, if I want to. But I wonder if I'm normal or not. I guess that's the thing about life. We never really know if we are normal or not.

Haha that makes sense. I just feel silly sometimes being all like "This is how I apply my eyeshadow" and "This is how I apply my blush." Like, really?

Don't feel silly advertising your videos here :) I advertise my videos on religion/atheism/secularism and feel weird, I love this place and want to make good videos.

i am not saying i feel silly advertising my videos here. thats not what i was even talking about at all. i meant, i feel silly doing makeup tutorials because i think its pretty basic stuff that doesnt really need to be demonstrated.

I feel they work. It's not an "over-saturated market" yet, so if you can make good, short videos... It is helpful.

Just keep up the good work :)

thanks. yeah i guess the tutorials are helpful. ill just not make basically the same thing over and over again, or the same type of video that ive seen tons of ppl already do, like ive seen ppl do. sometimes i just wonder, how basic am i supposed to get in my videos, without having it come off as condescending to my viewers. (a concept which can be applied to any type of videos i suppose.) im trying to think back to when i first started using makeup. we didnt have youtube back in those days. i learned from looking at pictures in magazines, reading tips, and practicing on myself. but i never exactly found it hard.
i just find it difficult to talk to ppl i know in real life about my youtube stuff sometimes, cause i feel like they dont understand. i feel they think im just talking about it to show off or act like im glamorous cause im on youtube. so i thought id ask the folks on here. thanks for the feedback. :)

Foreveralone actually might had a nice idea even if they didn't really say it.

We are talking about youtube here. Youtube is full of people making video's. What do they want? Visual Effects! Ofcourse.
Maybe it's something totally different than you do now but I'm talking about how to make someone look younger on video or older. How to make someone look dead have bruises, cuts etc.

Personally I would love to see a video on how to look pretty as a girl without make-up. Let's get personal on this one. When my old girlfriend didn't had make-up on and didn't do her hair she still looked nice and attractive. But girls feel "naked" without make-up she told me. So this might be a challenge to show you don't even need to have make-up to look pretty.

You may hate on me for saying this but I love to say it: "Girls are ignorant" :mstickle:

Haha, But make video's you like to make. And don't feel an outsider on this forum we all are different but we all are youtubers and can/will help each other out here!
