Are inactive subs really that bad?

I don't think they're damaging and you can't even say with certainty that they're inactive. If only 10% watch your videos, it may be a different 10% every time.

Yes, as sad as it is, some people will only check out a channel if it already has lots of subs. They'll check out the store that's full of people even if those people only came to use the toilet... what?! :D
That's true... But I think it's something that you and me will also do in the first place.. Also the saying "it's the inside that counts " you first check out the outside.. [emoji6]

True, but I've been watching YouTube long enough to know that crappy content can have hundreds of thousands of subs (for instance if there's a pretty face) and I've been on YTtalk long enough to know that small channels can have really great content! :)

This is a huge difference between subs and viewers... So maybe the subs are all sub 4 sub or are bought..
Yeah, they may do it to look more "credible" but once viewers see the lack of views/interaction they may not even subscribe because they know something's wrong. So I'd say those kind of dead subs hurt a channel long-term. (Why do people do this, whyyyyy? :facepalm2:)

Totally agree.. But also that channel will not last for long I guess.

Smalle channels sometimes got so much better content than other big channels. But the bigger channels have better SEO, so their channel will almost always pops up first when people are searching for something.

It's just a matter of time that a smaller channel will grow. It only takes a lot longer right now because the competition is to damn hard.

All they do is make your channel look better because it has say.... 231 subs instead of just 230, but it kinda sucks because they won't watch, like or comment on your video. I always wonder why people sub to channels they don't intend to watch. I know subs get notified whenever you put a new video up, it kinda sucks knowing most of your subs don't really care.

Don't worry about it... Just 10% (if that) of your views come from subscribers. People usually subscribe to a channel as to "like" the channel. It does not mean they have the time to watch all your content (not to mention the will).

That's terrible imo, i think i only get about 10/20% views come from my subscribers and the 80/90% views come from people that are not subscribed mostly from Twitter!!! :/

So it begs the question what IS the POINT of SUBSCRIBERS on Youtube then???!!![DOUBLEPOST=1448148046,1448147301][/DOUBLEPOST]
The longer you have a channel, the more inactive subs you'll have. Just a fact of life. As you've pointed out, most of the so-called biggest YouTubers have far more subs than the views they'll get on a typical video. Certain channel types are better at accumulating subs than views. I'll take the views, that's what pays the rent.

You should know because you have a big and successful Youtube channel and you been in the game, on Youtube for a very long time!

Inactive subs are misleading really. It makes a channel look better than they are. Most inactive subs come from when your own channel has been inactive for a while, and so they are literally pointless. I have a few inactive, and whilst I don't mind particularly, because it makes me look a little better, other people might mind. I don't think they're doing harm, but I don't think they're doing any good either.
