I only respond to those people who takes the time to write out a personal message that doesn't look too 'spammy' to me then I may check their channels out etc.

Yeah, and "Great videos, btw check out my channel!" doesn't count. If they personally ask me to check out their videos, I usually will, but if they sent the same message to a million people, I delete it.
