I've Got It
I just got photoshop and want to make cool custom thumbnails but it's seems so complicated anyone have or know of a good tutorial?

Hey sweets,

I work in photoshop eeeeeeeevery day. Its a great program and I think you should take this opportunity to really try and learn it! You have a great reason to now. :D

So let me give you some key words to look up that will really help you get going.

  • Layers
  • Adjustment layers
  • Masks
  • Layer style
I made a thumbnail recently for a video I uploaded. I'll add the file here for you and maybe you can de-construct some things I did, and it might help you figure some things out. Everything you need can be found in the "Layers" window.

As far as tutorials go just do some googling of those key words.

Hope this helps.

I must say you have some of the most beautiful thumbnails I have ever seen! :#1: You just get a really amazing look for your pictures... idk what you use for lighting and exactly how much color correction your using but its just absolutely stunning ._. I might have to break that thumbnail apart myself just to know how you achieve such greatness which is funny because I do design for a living haha.

Photoshop can be very disorienting at first -- so many options! But in reality - most of them aren't needed by the average user. The tool has to cater to a lot of different professions/needs afterall so it's really broad.

A good first tip is not to go overboard with too many effects on your image. Filters are good in small doses.

I also never edit the background layer - I always copy/paste it and edit that instead. I can always go back to the original background if I change my mind. And don't forget to name your layers -- it's easy to loose track.
