Anyone know how to increase render speed?

I always render in .mp4, that is faster for me.
Maybe clean out your computer, when I blew the dust out of the vent of my laptop the render time of a 7 minute video went from 22 minutes to 9 minutes.

Allow is to render using your GPU, not your CPU.

Here are my settings, you can leave the bitrate as it is, but for most of my gaming videos, I rather have a smaller file size and a bit lower quality, for the most part a bit darker:

He would really need a new kit, With that CPU it would proberbly be DDR2 ram, And all new mobo's only take ddr3.
I just bought a new pc for rendering, well the parts anyway, Intel is the way to go, Haswell, although it runs hot is really really good. It would set you back approx £500 for the new cpu, mobo and ram that he would need. i7 4770k is 250. The ram would be around 130 and the mobo, well the one that i got was 150. So thats 530 right there.
As long as you get a proper cooler they don't run that hot. But to OP, good advice if you can afford to upgrade.

Have you tried a better compression method than .wmv?

Most people have moved to h.264 under the .mp4 filetype.

Heres a little secret. Go to Task Manager. Go to Applications. Find Vegas. And right click it, Set Priority to High. Also, close all other applications when you render!

I don't really want to do that because I don't really want to mess my brothers computer up.

You won't mess his computer up with that tip. CTRL+ALT+DEL and opening the Task manager and adjusting it to high is just a way of telling the computer you want it to focus on that program right now. The moment you close the program, it goes back to normal and forgets you ever asked, so next time it's opened it's still normal.

I think that is a much easier approach short of upgrading to better components!![DOUBLEPOST=1387903130,1387903068][/DOUBLEPOST]And if you really wanna get deep go to the bios and overclock your memory a bit as well as your cpu!
