Anyone know how Related Channels section works?

Quick Question

Got three people in my related channels section, my home girl Lizzee and fellow YTTalker, the dank DigiBox and our lord and savior PewDiePie (Which is pretty damn flattering like what?). Problem is, what does this mean for me? What does this do for me, and for the channels displayed on my channel?

Would love to know more about this nifty channel goodie. Anyone know anything?

As far as I know, it's a mix of several factors - who you are most related to (seo wise), who the viewer is most likely to watch in addition to you, the viewers past viewing habits and what they are most likely to watch independent of you, channels Yt wants to promote and get people watching. Basically the algo is saying to the viewer "you might also like these channels...'

What does it do? Just another feed for viewers to click to. They can click cards, end screen, playlists, various sections, or the related channel links supplied, or the ones you give them.

There's no written in stone secret as to how Related Channels works, but from what I've observed, it usually depends on who you watch, who you're subscribed to, the genre of content they make, and what your viewers watch before coming to your channel. It only really serves to promote bigger channels, really. As a small YouTuber, it doesn't help you, unless you appear on the related of someone else's channel, but USUALLY that channel is smaller or around the same size as you, so there's no noticeable benefit (unless you're looking for people to collab with?). Even though PewDiePie's on your related, you would realistically never appear on his related, unless you rack up millions of subs. :P

My lord and savior is Jesus Christ!

But to get to the point, I've noticed my related channel box change over time. It seems to feature channels that people who have subscribed to you recently also watch.

Example. I was mentioned on a Spanish website who also has a channel. About 10"5 people subscribed and suddenly that channel was in the box. It later disappeared. I guess if two channels were subscribers to each other and no one else, they'd appear there. Big channels always have a good chance because their reach is bigger[DOUBLEPOST=1499580870,1499580559][/DOUBLEPOST]

If you can alter it slightly by watching other channels that'd be cool. It make sure it's no bigger and suckier channels haha
