Anyone else notice a rise in snarky comments? Are people just stressed out or something?

Go to any music video or other video getting a lot of views and scroll down a bit and you'll almost always find people fighting and trading insults, often about stuff not even related to the video!

An increase in snarky comments is actually a good sign - It means the video is being seen outside of your loyal subscriber base - People that are just discovering your content. Often this happens when a video starts doing well in search or in suggested videos. It'll bring in new viewers who don't know you. Some will like the content and stick around - others won't. No big deal. ^^

Like regardless of what my video is about, they are all complaining about the same thing, almost as if they are collaborating on what to complain about. It seems like all of them are basically, "Your video took more then 30 seconds, so it was TOO LONG! How dare you waste my TIME like that." Comments on my videos have ranged from irritated to down right fury. It just seems like people in general are angry and taking it out on complete strangers.

I have been doing youtube for a few years now and I am used to people that are rude or mean, but I am wondering if there is something deeper to this latest trend in comments directed specifically at the length of videos. It's like a law was passed somewhere that videos have to "Twitterized" (reduced to shortest possible length with the fewest words), or people have the RIGHT to be outraged at you for "Wasting their time".

Yeah some have said my vids are too long and I'm like its Fo$t plays not "The Game"(Full movie) or "The Game"(Cutscenes only). Enjoy that I gave you a 1 hour episode and if it really that bad fast forward the $h!t

If you were to split the video up, they'd prolly complain about too many uploads too frequently next. I'm prolly driving everyone away myself with tons of uploading of old streams that I let get waaaaaaaaaay too backed up. Oh well. It's my channel and I'll embrace the consequences lol. I have playlists for a reason.
 
I just had a subscriber tell me that if I uploaded anything he didn't want to watch, I need to create a whole new channel because picking and choosing what to watch is too much effort for him. What is wrong with these people?
 
i mean im not leaving snarky comments but i absolutely am more stressed than usual lmao. holidays are right around the corner so students are probably agitated

Yeah plus I see a lot of views comment that episodes be too short for some channels I got almost 40 videos each like 30-70 minutes and almost none of it's filler lol. All within my first month lmao
 
Let's just put it this way. You can't please everyone. That's just the way is. I've received comments from "waste of time" to "I hope you die". Lets just be real here, people are always going to be judgemental or negative. Yet there are times you can turn a negative into a positive on your channel. Horrible & childish comments, ignore that. Negative criticism? Maybe, lets take a little look of how to please the audience a little bit. Your not perfect, we all aren't. I took some negatives and try to look at what I'm doing wrong, to have some slight improvement. For me? It did turn out well. But I don't listen to every single negative thing, just the ones that pop out frequently I try to take into consideration.

The end of the day, we need to improve more as we ride the road. Super positive comments are heart warming & awesome, but they don't show your little mistakes. We are not perfect, but we do need a reminder where we are messing up to fill in those gaps. Just my opinion, Cheers!
