Anyone else frustrated with Reddit? It's like Content Creators aren't welcome.

Reddit does not like self promotion. If your content is relevant to that subreddit it seems to do well, but if you are just posting to get views you will get booed off stage pretty quickly.

Unfortunately myself and many others learned that too late, and their lack of transparency (shadow banning, disabling your account without actually telling you your banned) just makes things worse.
That's usually how it is in most sub-reddits. They got it in the sidebar under their rules that if you break one of them, you might get banned without warning.

I signed up for reddit over a year ago, and thought of it as a place I could post my original content to get some notice. I did this for several months but then realized it was getting me nowhere. I had been shadow banned because I repeatedly posted content from youtube.

So I took the initiative to create a new account, and actually become a real reddit user. Commenting on and liking others work, submitting content I found online to a bunch of different subreddits (not just r/videos and r/youtube), etc. That account is in good standing, has some Karma built up, and is not shadowbanned.

So today, I thought I should try posting a video. I did so, and while everything appeared to go fine, the video never showed up in the NEW feed. So I deleted it, and asked a friend to post it. The same thing happened. To him it looked like everything worked, but from my account the video was not visible in the feed.

They actually banned my youtube channel altogether, no matter who links to it!

This is horrible, as it's probably been like this for months and who knows how many missed opportunities I might have had to get some traction on reddit.

So I am trying to contact the moderators and admins now to see if they are willing to undo the ban.

In the mean time, anyone else here have any problems/frustrations with reddit?

Aren't you friends with Pranks? Ask them to probably feature one of your videos, you can easily do it by yourself with some consistency and such.
And ironically my best friend is friends with the creator of reddit, so I'll ask him whats the policy about what has happened to you. Maybe I can get you unbanned. I'll see what I can do ;)

Hey Ken, Great to see you here.

I am friends with Jay over at Pranks channel, just finished two new collabs with him. I'll probably submit something for a feature friday there one day as well.

I did speak to some mods already, the claim my channel actually isn't banned, so that's good. Now I am just waiting for the admins to respond to my request to be unbanned. If you can lend a hand in that process that would be awesome!

They aren't very appreciative of people just using the site to profit themselves. If you actually have a good post, put detail into the title, and it's a general great video. But if you are just posting everyone of your videos into /r/gaming or /r/youtube then you will gain hate.

Even back when I was posting my own videos, I only posted ones I felt had viral potential. Out of the 40 videos on my channel I maybe posted 4 or 5 of them. But I'd post it, see it not doing well, delete it, post it again the next day, etc. That got me shadow banned.
