Any thoughts on how to accelerate my growth?

I run a channel for an animal shelter (since mid-July 2015). I'm a volunteer there and I'm doing this without anyone else's help from the shelter. I am growing at about 1 sub a day and I get views as long as I promote. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can accelerate my growth? I've been trying lots of things suggested here (better SEO, artwork, promotion, quality videos) but I feel like I'm not sure where to go next.

I'm thinking of making more videos besides the one I do each week. However, with all the promotion and SEO work plus all the other non-YouTube stuff I have to do for the shelter, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep it up. I also wonder if I'm just another impatient YouTube newbie who expects amazing things to happen in a short period of time.

Thanks for any advice or input.
Slow and steady wins the race, and still does. :)

Hearing those kinds of stories is what motivates many pet adoptions in the first place, so it'd be a cool thing to have on your channel! :)
Thanks for taking the time to respond and for adopting. I like your ideas and would like to implement them. I need to step outside my comfort zone to be more of an interviewer so it's going to be a bit tough for me at first. I'll only get better if a take the first step to start.[DOUBLEPOST=1457051063,1457050959][/DOUBLEPOST]

True! My husband's favorite saying in these types of situations is "It's a marathon not a sprint."
