Any Luck With Channel Trailers?

I still gotta make one for my channel. I have an idea I want to try, but it'll either be really funny/amusing enough for people to want to subscribe, or it'll be stupid and scare people away.

Either way, I'll try it and if I see no change in subs (or, heaven forbid, a DECREASE!), I'll try something else.

I think they can be useful, but it depends on what kind of channel you're running. I definitely think it's good to always have some kind of video in that slot, it's got a lot of visibility! The best thing a channel video can do IMO is be more than just a plea for subscribers. Our channel trailers (we do a new one every week) are mostly there now to highlight what's coming up that week, since we do multiple shows Monday through Friday. They're pretty consistently well viewed, but we're about to change them up a little to make them more about interacting with our audience and getting feedback on what they like about us and what kind of shows they want to see. For channels run primarily by one person, what I want to see is not just a little bit about what kind of videos the channel has, but I want to get to know the person running the channel a little.

i made a thread about this in the chillout room, so ill copy and paste my feelings about the channel trailer, i feel it has its ups and downs......

"having actual trailer:
pros - since it only plays for unsubscribed people, you can tell them to subscribe, and let them know all the content on your channel, and give linked annotations to certain playlists and stuff.

cons - might ignore it since its not an actual video and might just click out in laziness to click around to see content.

using a normal video:
pros - can use your best video and grab their attention fast.

cons - they might not like that specific video, and instead of clicking around to other vids, they might just leave."

having said that i feel it also depends on your content.... if you do the same content every video, a trailer is useless because they will see what you do from a normal video of yours, but a channel like mine for instance, we do pranks, challenges and vlogs, 3 completelt different types of videos, so if we have a challenge as our main video, that might not be there thing and leave, but they might love pranks, but not even look around due to the main video being a challenge ya know? were thinking about making a trailer, where we get it out there quick that we do pranks, challenges, and vlogs, and give them an easy way of navigating through out diff vids with annotation.

sorry for the long response, but i feel this is the best response to this question lol

I'm yet to make a channel trailer simply because I'm not sure how I should go about it... I think I'll wait until I have a web cam or high quality camera so I can address potential subscribers and viewers directly... speaking from experience, when a gaming commentator shows his or her face for the first time after having a massive number of subs, videos and views I feel that it's an awkward atmosphere and I feel it should be broken before any relationships are made between channel owner and subscribers. That's my personal account of things but I don't know what'd be like for you guys... :P

Same. I wanted to do a funtage of everything i had done. But i think i am going to wait till i reach a certain amount of videos and then i will.

I think mine is too long but I did it and it was really hard for me :oops:. But I played on the awkwardness. I think it's helped a bit.
