Any ideas why this happens?

Thanks again...also for the compliment!

The "Perfect" channel is typical of the strategy that many yacht brokers adopt. The channel owner appears to post every single yacht video he can find on his channel, none of it original content; all of it paid for by somebody else (usually the yacht builder). This may or may not result in an elevated number of views and subscribers, but it's not the strategy I follow.

I only post videos of yachts that I have a close connection with, so that if somebody enquires about them I can easily supply more information and arrange for a meeting with the owner to see if a deal can be found. I am hoping that with time and persistence I shall establish myself as the "go-to" authority on yachting on youtube. My video blogs are really useful for this, and I have also just reached an agreement with a yacht builder to do a vlog style video following the build of one of his yachts.

Anyway, I've changed the tags on my WIDER 165' video now and shall probably slightly change the name too as you suggest...so then it's just a question of waiting for the results over time!

One possibility could be that the video with 260,000 views was embedded on external websites or on social media. This would drive traffic to the video, and YouTube's algorithms would see the external traffic and bring that video higher in the YouTube search results. Also, that video with the 260,000 views might be getting longer watch times than your video. That has a MASSIVE effect on whether YouTube will continue to "promote" your video. Remember, YouTube wants people to spend more time watching YouTube videos. Therefore, videos with longer watch times will be suggested more often by YouTube. Hope that helps!

Thanks everybody for your suggestions/comments. Whatever the reason is for my competitor posting exactly the same video as me but getting almost 100 times more views.... (ouch! It still hurts to say it)... all of the advice about tag words, shares on social media, etc is great and very much appreciated.

This week I want to find some time to research the subject a little more, especially how you can find which relevant keywords/tagwords are trending on youtube.
