Any commentating tips?

1. Don't eat food
2. Don't say umm
3. Try to sound happy or positive, no one likes a monotone lol
4. Try not to swear
5. Make sure that there is no background noise and that your mic gives your voice a quality sound
6. Use Audacity, its a free program that I noticed has better recording quality than most
7. Be passionate about what you are talking about, don't talk about like New York reduces its beverage sizes if you live in Wyoming, talk about things that affects you, that you like, or that you are informed on.

That's about all I can think of as of right now, remember to be careful about what you are saying and mean what you say as it will be on the internet lol

Talk clearly and don't sound monotone. I know when I listen to a commentary if their talking in 1 tone the whole time ill probably fall asleep on my computer. Always try and sound energized to keep the viewer entertained

:) Best tips a person could give you !:D

Some moar tips!

1) If the commentary is too quiet, amplify the volume in Audacity
2) Make sure the background gameplay is still interesting, even if it has nothing to do with the commentary.
3) Try to make jokes and establish a persona for yourself
4) Inflict your voice more than normal. It'll better show your emotions over voice given that you don't have facial and body expressions to help you.
5) If the commentary has nothing to do with the gameplay, don't talk about the gameplay! This might make other people who are interested in just your commentary to subscribe and watch your videos.
6) Edit out all breaks in your train of thought as well as your awkward pauses. Make sure to edit out your "Ummm"s too.
7) Use a decent mic. A Rockband mic should be good enough, which you can find online for about $20.
8) Try doing commentaries with other people. Not only might this bring more viewers, it might be interesting to see for your viewers. I, for one, love watching dual comms.

Good luck on your videos!

When commentating try to stay confident, use scripts to help you. Do some research on what you are commentating i.e watch YouTube videos about the topic you will be commentating about. For me I did some research on Call of duty black ops 2, I found a few things I did not know about the game, this will help me to do more gameplay commentaries more easily.

I dont have any advice in terms of production quality but in terms of what you are saying...
1) make sure you are having , if you sound bored the audience will feel bored
2) dont show off how good you are, you are trying to be a commentator not a professional gamer
3)dont be too scripted, the audience wants your reactions to be organic so they can experience the game with you
