I Love YTtalk
A channel with 20 subscribers just asked me to collab with them and I said no. I wasn't interested in the type of content he produces (totally different than mine), his personality rubs me the wrong way, and.... I have a significantly larger audience. He's also never watched any of my videos (that I can tell - no comments from him or notification that he's subscribed) so I feel like he was just trying to mooch off of my audience that I've worked hard to grow.
I feel like the reasons to do a collab are to make new friends and get your channel more exposure, while also having fun. Collabing with him wouldn't have done any of those things for me.
So then, after I said "no thank you" to him (like four times...), he suggested that to "balance the scales" we make a video and I talk about it on my channel, and then he'll pay for Facebook to promote his channel so more people will see our video. "It's win-win!"
Haha, so I promote your channel, and then you promote your channel.... um, no thank you.
Have you ever had a situation like this, where someone tried to force you to do something to help THEM out by selling it as helping YOU?
