Heeeey, I dont know if you would read this but, yea I started 2 weeks ago and I think I post pretty unique videos with vlogs! So yea please rate it!

Hey, I just started recently, trying to upload frequently... I know majority of the videos are with a friend (mainly to get comfortable) but yeah, would love some feedback on my channel :) (I totally understand if i'm like far too late to this offer) :P

@XXLRay

I see you've got a channel review with some pretty solid advice. Might as well just pack up and leave then. :P

Everything on your channel was created with open source and free assets, correct (including music, fonts/typefaces and images)? It's a pretty solid effort and it's good to see you've found success with that. Congratulations on your 1000+ subscribers by the way!

Branding wise, everything is consistent with the exception of fonts/typefaces and text colour between thumbnails. Yes, the text style changes to denote which series of videos it belongs to ("Archery" videos all have the same style, as does "Free Music" etc) but that's not true for every video. One look at any of your playlists shows an inconsistency within themselves. It's not always clear so keep in mind for future videos to stick to each playlists' style.

One other point to your branding I'll mention - it looks plain and very generic, mostly due to the fonts/typefaces you've chosen. Sometimes using fonts/typefaces that comes built into certain programs or operating systems isn't always the best option. Check out sites like http://www.dafont.com/ , http://www.fontspace.com/ or https://www.fontsquirrel.com/ to find great OTF (OpenType Fonts) which will work on many operating systems. I recommend a bold, sans-serif, uppercase font/typeface as it appears more professional, especially with your tutorial videos.

In terms of editing, in a large number of your videos I'm noticing a single frame or two that appears mostly after a transition effect has been applied. I don't know which video editor you use so I'm unsure as to whether or not it gives you a preview window that you can look at frame by frame with all transitions/effects applied. If so, when applying your transition, make sure to watch carefully to see if a stray frame or two appears so you can fix it before you render it. If you haven't got a preview window then it's really just luck of the draw - make an edit, render it, watch it and if you have an error, go back into the editor, make a change, render and repeat until solved.

Overall everything you have now is solid. All you need to do is tweak a few elements and you're good to go. Keep it up and best of luck to you!

@MasterEth

It absolutely is much better! You've got consistency across your channel not just by using the drawn image of yourself but in colour scheme as well. Well done! Now keep uploading more videos!

@Neimos

It's good to see your logo not only in your avatar but implemented into your thumbnails as well. It's a simple bit of consistency that goes a long way. Your channel header looks rather plain however, even though it's treated in the same colour scheme as your avatar. That cartoony, comic-sans style font/typeface simply isn't working. Try playing around with different fonts/typefaces that aren't as hand-written or cartoony, either serif or sans-serif.

Content wise I don't have much to add. Your microphone quality is exceptionally high and your editing is rock solid (in your 'Technomancer' video for example, cutting out the character creation was a great decision). Work on your channel header and keep uploading videos. The more videos you create, the more comfortable you'll be in presenting yourself and the more natural your commentary will become. Good luck!

@Hiroto

Use the custom 'Home' page for your channel so that you can use the 'Channel Trailer' space to promote your latest video.

Content wise your audio mixing needs some work. The music and sound effects you've added is exceptionally loud compared to your vocal commentary. You need to mix your audio so that the music and sound effects don't overpower your vocals.

One last point on audio - consider saving up and investing in either a lavalier/lapel microphone or a shotgun microphone for your camera. It'll give more clarity to your vocals and help knock out some of the room noise I'm hearing in your videos currently.

Not bad for two weeks worth of work. You've definitely got potential. Biggest priority is your audio mixing. Nail that first and you should do fine. Good luck!

@RonnocX

You're never too late!

First of all you don't have to worry about doing videos with a friend. Collaborations can do wonders for any channel.

Content wise, you've got a decent quality microphone although you and Hudson definitely need to invest in pop-filters. There's a lot of popping in your recordings due to the plosive consonants - Bs, Ps, Ks, Cs etc. A pop-filter will help remove them and you can also keep the microphone further away from your face (or turning the mic gain down).

Not bad for two weeks worth of work. Invest in some pop-filters, turn down the mic gain slightly and you should be good to go. Best of luck to you!

@New Thug Life Production

I get that your channel is all about compilations. That being stated there's nothing really unique about your channel at all. Everything, from the images you use in your avatar/channel header/thumbnails to the music you use in your video compilations, does not belong to you at all. No doubt you've already received several copyright strikes/warnings on the music alone and if you keep on doing it, it won't be long before your channel gets taken down.

You need to start right from the very beginning branding wise - you need a unique logo, colour scheme, font/typeface and style that is completely unique to your channel. A good place to start for inspiration is here: https://logopond.com . Once you've nailed your logo and branding, you can apply all those elements into the thumbnails and the videos themselves.

Finally, stop relying on copywritten material. If you want to use sexy photos of models you should purchase licenses from stock photo websites. For music, go to sites like AudioJungle or MusicBed or, if you want a free option, ask YouTube content creators or musical artists on SoundCloud to use their music with permission. It'll promote their music while at the same time avoiding copyright strikes from major music labels.

You've got a lot of work to do so you better get to it. Good luck!

@Salby Salsa

Of course I'll review your channel!

Right off the bat I love that you've got a consistent brand. The colourful mosaic pattern is used throughout all your art assets which is great! Well done!

I can tell you've been inspired by JonTron, as evidenced by your editing and script writing/acting. Not bad. You are entertaining but you should try to get your own personality to shine through. You'll eventually find your own voice the more videos you create and upload so keep it up.

It's good to hear your audio improving over time although your camera work still needs work. In your 'The WORST Sonic Game?', the skit starting at around 2:20 has a lot of focusing issues and the audio is clearly using the on-camera microphone, meaning you're capturing a lot of background noise. Clearly this is due to you doing most of the recordings yourself so if you can, think about getting a few friends to help you out.

You've got potential. Work on your camera technique and keep uploading videos. You'll definitely do well. Keep it up!

@TipToes Sev

You've kept the same font/typeface for your channel header and thumbnails, giving your channel branding a bit of consistency which is great to see. The problem is that if one were to look at your avatar or your thumbnails out of context to your channel, viewers will have trouble understanding that the content belongs to you. Having a logo that you can use in your avatar and thumbnails will help add more consistency to what you've got now.

Content wise there's nothing much I can add. Your microphone quality is decent, editing is solid and your videos are entertaining to watch. What you channel needs most is some added consistency to your branding. Work on that and you're good to go. Good luck and have fun!

@Klink man you really dug deep into my channel. Thanks for taking your time to do so.

@XXLRayEverything on your channel was created with open source and free assets, correct (including music, fonts/typefaces and images)?
Some of my older videos where done in iMovie but from then on my whole production chain is indeed in open-source software.

Congratulations on your 1000+ subscribers by the way!
Thanks for the congrats.

One look at any of your playlists shows an inconsistency within themselves. It's not always clear so keep in mind for future videos to stick to each playlists' style.
Well spotted. I am currently playing around with my thumbnail style and haven't found the time to adjust all of them yet.

I recommend a bold, sans-serif, uppercase font/typeface as it appears more professional, especially with your tutorial videos.
I didn't find a font that really hit me when I chose my current one back then but your tips will probably help me to find a more suitable one on my next search.

I'm noticing a single frame or two that appears mostly after a transition effect has been applied.
That comes from the editing program I am using. The library it utilizes doesn't translate time into frames properly. You can get around it but the process is extremely tedious. So I often need to skip it to keep my schedule. I am aware of the issue but it's good to know that it's actually also noticeable.

Although you didn't ask for it and likely know it yourself let me give you some tips in return.
A visitor to your channel doesn't get to know what it's all about at once. Add a channel trailer that turns a viewer into a subscriber. Furthermore incorporate information about your content and upload schedule into your banner.
The first line of your About section shows up in search but currently it doesn't really tell what kind of videos a viewer will find on your channel.
Your titles are pretty generic. Add a catch phrase that tells about something specific in the videos like "Homeless Hero" for the Hopkins-Smith interview. I would also move video specific tags like "Vagabond Comic" more to the front as they are more likely to be searched than a generic term like "Experience".
The text in your thumbnails often covers reference points in the image like e.g. the eyes of persons. If we take e.g. the Hopkins-Smith interview again you could also have added the comic book character.

Generally I like what you do in your videos and how you do it so keep up the good work. I hope my tips help you nearly as much as yours help me.

@Klink

Thanks for taking a (proper) look at my channel, considering the feedback I've seen and how in depth you're going, I'm extremely proud that the popping was the biggest concern :)
