@ROFLCOMBAT

Right from the get go your channel is all over the place in terms of branding. You have a nice photo used in your header but what exactly does that tell your potential viewers about you or your channel? The same can be stated about your thumbnails; what exactly does it show your viewers about your videos? How is it unique compared to every other gameplay video on YouTube? How do viewers even know the videos belong to you?

Your last four videos have a similar thumbnail style which is consistent but they look cheap. You need to find yourself a font/typeface that you personally love and use it as the text style throughout your channel. Also consider creating yourself a logo, either large, small or both, so you can use it as the basis of your entire brand (like your logo sting in your "TDM HAVOC!" video). For thumbnail design, make sure the text is easily legible and that it's eye-catching to look at. Above all else make sure the thumbnails are reflective of the content within the video itself while at the same type remaining consistent with your brand.

For the content itself, it's great to hear copyright free music from a channel that collects some great artists from around the world. Your videos remind me of the work of BirgirPall's "Operation: *" Battlefield 3 videos.

Example:

Ignoring the copywritten music in that video, look at how it's edited. For the most part it's edited towards the beat of the music, transforming the video into a music video of sorts. Your videos are on the right track but definitely needs some work in the editing department. Try to edit the videos in time to the music or think about a particular theme you'd like to accomplish in the video - all knife kills, all dirtbike.exe etc.

As I stated, you're on the right track but need a bit of work. Good luck!

@Smith Unpacked

Content wise you need to save up some cash and invest in a microphone (lavalier/lapel mic or shotgun mic, whatever your preference) and work on your camera/webcam quality. In your "5 Types of People In Public" video you're completely out of focus which looks incredibly bad, and in the next four videos after your 'Channel Ad' video your webcam is of significantly low quality. You can tell because it's automatically trying to adjust with colour, lighting and focus. It's distracting to look at.

As for your branding, I like the simple text on a black background that's in your channel header and 5 of your video thumbnails. Since the channel is about you, having your face there along with that text/style in your thumbnails should be the basis of your brand going forward. Keep your brand consistent.

@Flyination

To be honest there really isn't much I can critique. If you record these videos yourself, perhaps invest in a higher quality camera to remove the rolling shutter effect (most noticeable with propellers). Rolling shutter is common with most DSLRs and phone cameras and it describes the effect of the camera/sensor trying to 'assume' what it's supposed to see as opposed to what it actually sees. It's extremely noticeable in the 'Antonov An-70 Airshow 2016' video if you look at the propellers.

You could also make sure your videos fill the entire YouTube player window, at least horizontally to avoid the slight vertical letterboxing. I don't think the transition/swipe effects in the beginning are neccessary at all and you might want to consider creating/adding a logo in the thumbnails and the videos.

That's pretty much it. It's good to see a specialised channel like this one finding success. Good luck!

@XSplitHalf

The biggest issue with your channel is the name - XSplitHalf. Most streamers, if not all, know what XSplit is but allow me to clarify. XSplit is a piece of software developed by Splitmedia Labs that allows people to capture video and audio footage from your desktop or game window and stream it to services like Twitch, Hitbox and Livestream.

Can you see what the issue is? Your channel is named after a piece of copy written software. There is absolutely nothing stopping Splitmedia Labs or a representative on their behalf to take down your entire channel as it not only infringes on their copyright but can be misinterpreted as a representation of their brand/software. Going forward, seriously consider a different channel name that is far more ideal and evocative of you and your personality.

Ignoring that, let's go into detail about your brand art; it is absolutely inconsistent. You have a logo that you use for your avatar and in the thumbnails for 3 of your videos which looks completely different from your channel header. A key to good branding as I've mentioned several times in this thread is consistency. Think of a logo or typeface that you fancy and is representative of you and use it for everything, channel header, avatar, logo, logo sting, end card, thumbnails etc.

For thumbnails, the logo you currently have is lazily added in. There is no transparency; it is just slapped on, white background and all and looks incredibly cheap. The rest of the thumbnails are just wallpapers with hard to read text applied. Making good thumbnails is tied to your branding so again, think of a typeface or logo that is consistent with your brand and apply that to your thumbnails.

Content wise, you need to invest in a condenser microphone as the one you currently use is of low quality. For Let's Play content, vocals and voice over quality matters a hell of a lot more than gameplay footage. Save up some cash, buy a good microphone and mix the audio so it sounds perfect.

Good luck.

@nyah sky

Try and steer clear of copy written music. While using Beyonce tracks in your "Beyone Hair!" video makes perfect sense, you don't want record labels taking down your channel with a myriad of copyright strikes. There are several sites where you can license music such as Incompetech, Audio Jungle or Music Bed. You can even use the royalty free music YouTube itself provides but you run the risk of using tracks thousands, if not millions of people have heard already.

For your content, you'll need to invest in a shotgun microphone or a lavalier/lapel microphone to get some clearer, cleaner audio. You should also consider investing in a few lights to help your camera stay on focus and stop trying to automatically adjust with different lighting conditions. On the topic of focus, I get the idea behind auto focus but try to avoid it. Set it to manual, choose a distance that's right for you and stick with it. Again, it'll stop the camera from trying to auto adjust frequently which is distracting.

It's great that you have a logo and a font/typeface you use consistently but you definitely need to use it far more effectively. In the videos themselves the logo is blue but in your channel header it's black. Pick a colour that you enjoy and use it as a key element to your branding. You can also place the logo in the corners of your thumbnails and avatar to help viewers know the videos belong to you. With thumbnails, they need a bit of work as some of the text you use in unreadable. It's great they feature your face prominently as you are your brand but you need to balance that with readable text.

Good luck with your channel.

Ty for the review, I guess you're right about the XSplit thing didn't really think about it since i've been using the name before XSplit existed but I'll change it

So far I like what I see. Your 'JAYVEETEE' channel is all about you and it shows - avatar and thumbnails all have you prominently displayed. What I would suggest is adding in your logo into one of the corners of the thumbnails. On the topic of your logo, I love it. It's simple and striking and you've used it prominently in your videos. You've got some damn good branding, ma'am (please don't kill me :p)!

Content wise I have nothing to advise you on. Your personality is fantastic, the quality of your videos is spot on and your editing is incredible. If you're worried about viewers and subscribers, here's one way to look at it. Most YouTube channels have massive subscriber burn out; even if they have over a million subs they'll only get a quarter of that at most in terms of views. Your view count is consistently above your subscriber count which means you're completely bucking the trend. Congrats on that!

Overall man, keep it up. I really wish you succeed with your channel because you're doing everything right!
