A lot of reasons, but I don't think this is really the best place to get into it all since the issue is censorship, not my individual views. I will just say for now that modern "right-libertarianism" which is largely inspired by the work of Ayn Rand is all about the virtue of selfishness and I don't think selfishness has any virtue at all. Ron Paul who is thought of a highly influential figure in modern right-libertarianism (there's also a left-wing form of libertarianism but that has fallen way out of favor) is the most right-wing member of congress. People rely on social programs. When they are cut or destroyed, people's lives are destroyed. The richest countries in the world have very strong social safety nets. Ours is barely hanging on by a thread and libertarians want to reduce it even more. They just took a huge chunk out of the food stamp program at the same time that banksters are stealing trillions and they want the poorest segment of society to pay for it? It's inhuman. But like I said, that's not really the issue I'm concerned with at the moment. Censorship is.[DOUBLEPOST=1392744982,1392744700][/DOUBLEPOST]Why don't you like libertarianism?
The reason people kill themselves is not because of what happens online. You hardly know anything about suicide and depression from the way you speak about it. The comments of people aren't what they kill themselves over, its their own mind. The mind keeps hold of the comments and makes you think that everyone you've ever met or talked to believed those things about you. Also the way you're speaking I'm just going to mention this, lot's of people from ask.fm have killed themselves. Most of them from what we have been told were not suffereing from depression, they knew they could get away from it by turning the computer off.
Yes and you can remove yourself from people who hurt you in "real life" by getting away from them too (if you are an adult). But that's not how the world works. Words DO hurt. Online relationships ARE real to the people who are involved in them. They are very real. People meet lifelong partners online. People get hurt all the time. I just really don't understand where you are coming from. If you don't take online relationships seriously, I think you are decidedly in the minority.
