Aftereffects.. Mac or PC? Which do you prefer?

Whatever you do, DON'T BUY THE MAC. Just build yourself a PC. I do actually own a macbook air (it's a school one, I'd never buy one) and the interface of ae is no different

I'm more worried about the total render time. All my plugins are compatible with mac's and pc's (I think?) but yeah i'm mostly concerned about the RT.

I would say, if you were to buy a NEW 2013 iMac and a NEW 2013 MacBook Pro, they would probably be about the same performance (the iMac would be a little better) but for the most part if you're looking at a MacBook Pro and an iMac, it would mostly come down to, would you rather it be portable and what screen size matters to you :)

Thanks! I already have a monitor/desk setup for a labtop so the MB Pro is looking like the right pick for me.. Thanks for your insight![DOUBLEPOST=1372043879,1372043855][/DOUBLEPOST]
Mac has a lot more key shortcuts when it come to video software :)

This is interesting, I do like my shortcuts

Get mac for video rendering. If you are worried about compatibility issues, there are workarounds such as what I have done: Bootcamping a Windows partition onto your Mac. This is fully supported by Apple (the Mac comes pre-installed with the program to bootcamp) and you will have windows 7 (or Windows 8) and Mac (you could also get linux.. I wouldn't :p).

You will then have all of compatibility, good video rendering, as well as having two very powerful operating systems.

Mac AAE vs. PC AAE is no different, although the Mac is definitely more editing / rendering oriented.

Hope this helps you come to a decision :D

PC all the way. Macs are just a waste of money being put into the brand. A PC you can customize to fit the requirements you absolutely need.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Couldn't agree more. The MB Pro isn't worth the extra couple hundred dollars for extra key shortcuts
