Aftereffects.. Mac or PC? Which do you prefer?

I Love YTtalk
Hi there!
I'm in the market for a $1500 rendering rig, i'm looking to get the most "bang for my buck" while retaining a reasonable experience outside of rendering 2/3d for YouTube! (I only state this amount as i'd buy a $4000 mac pro if I had the cash ;) .. as i'm sure we all would do!)

I've done some googling to no avail, I can't find the specific/recent answer i'm after.
My question is..

Which operating system do you prefer to use Adobe Aftereffects on?

Thanks gang!

Thanks for the feedback! You have me thinking, I may just save up for the Mac Pro.. Do you happen to have one by chance? I've never even seen one in person.

No, I wish! Right now I'm just using a MacBook Pro. If you're gonna save for one, I would say look at the new one they unveiled this year that comes out latter this year :)

Hows the Macbook Pro? I've found they are similarly priced compared to the iMac
I've been known to have the odd drink and the iMac looks like it wouldn't fair well if anything "bumped" into it.. Is the the Macbook Pro fairly "sturdy?" or well built? My HP labtop has taken a beating and a half and i'm more than impressed with it's durability.. That's one huge concern I have as i'm not gentle with my stuff :p[DOUBLEPOST=1372042823,1372042734][/DOUBLEPOST]Also.. Do you run AfterEffects? If so hows the rendering speed? My 4 minute video takes 9 hrs to render on my current rig..

I would say, if you were to buy a NEW 2013 iMac and a NEW 2013 MacBook Pro, they would probably be about the same performance (the iMac would be a little better) but for the most part if you're looking at a MacBook Pro and an iMac, it would mostly come down to, would you rather it be portable and what screen size matters to you :)

Whatever you do, DON'T BUY THE MAC. Just build yourself a PC. I do actually own a macbook air (it's a school one, I'd never buy one) and the interface of ae is no different

Not to start a Mac vs Windows war, but why should he buy a Windows PC over a Mac, from a video rendering standpoint?

It won't affect rendering but I'm just saying you'll save money building your own rig
EDIT: whoops he wasn't considering the mac pro, sorry
