After Effects on a laptop

Okay so I'm using After Effects to make my first video and its unbearable. The rendering preview takes way too long and currently its saying it doesn't have enough memory to even render the frames. I made a minute long channel intro video and it rendered fine but it used 23GB and that was only 720p and the frame rate was 30. After I couldn't even play it on my computer as it lagged so much and the audio/video were out of sync. How do I get After Effects to competently work with my laptop? Getting a new one isn't an option. If you need any specs of my laptop just ask.

The frame rate and resolution barely has anything to do with it. It would be the bit-rate in the rendering. Which is how much data per second. That will solve the memory issue. However, the other issue I will leave to different people.

Whatever rendering template you use, just go to properties or (customize template in Sony Vegas, as it is known) and turn it down a bit, but not enough to degrade quality by much
