Advice on viewer interaction

Hey there! I recently restarted my channel, now I have a little problem..

I get a lot of views but my viewer/subscriber just don't want to "interact" with the video (No likes, comments, etc.)

Does anyone have an idea on what to do about that? Seems like there isn't really much I can do.

did you change the topic? and are you getting those views through promotion?

Are you doing a "call to action" in your videos? Some gurus suggest doing it near the beginning, but that feels like begging to me, so I do it just before my close. I figure if someone gets all the way through the video, a quick reminder to "like and subscribe" will more likely be honored.

I am kinda hesitant about "begging", but I guess I'll have to try next time, preferably at the end.
