Advice on Audience Retention?

Hey everyone! I have a question on the subject of audience retention. I looked up my stats recently and for my subs, the retention is really good I would say my subs average more than 10 minutes per video. Now, on the flip side, non subs average about 2 mintues. I messaged a few of my subs and asked them if they were enjoying the content and if there was anything I could improve on. It was unanimous that they all enjoy the content that I make. So I am kind of at a loss on what to do at this point to have non subscribers feel my content is entertaining enough to watch for more than 2 minutes as. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
 
There are millions of people who watch YouTube so not every person that comes to your channel will like what you do, the fact that your subscribers watch more than 10 mins is brilliant so whatever you are doing definitely don't change haha. So the bottom line is don't try to please everyone just make sure the people that do like your stuff are happy and eventually more will come.

Thank you for the advice! I can see what you are getting at. I guess I am just being a little pretentious trying to please everyone.
 
Perhaps making your videos eight minutes could help as well. Still long enough to keep subscribers, short enough to maybe keep new viewers there. Don't be afraid to try anything new. And as stated before, not every person who sees your channel will like it as much as others. Two minutes is still very good, in my opinion. I learned in class by at least the one minute mark you lose a good percentage of people watching your video.

I'll try some new stuff I am in the process of bringing movie/tv/game reviews to the channel and those won't be more than 6-8 minutes long. However, I mainly make walkthrough videos, 8 minute of a story based game in my opinion is nothing. In the long run, I don't want to have 60 videos or more in a playlist that is a story based game. Still thank you for the advice!
 
Maybe try to make your videos a little bit shorter? I'm not saying make like 20 second videos, but if your videos are like 20 minutes you might wanna cut down the time and only showcase the funny/interesting parts.

Then again, it's your channel, so you can do what you want with it. And if people don't like that, they're gonna have to just deal with it!
 
I'm having problems with audience retention as well, not only it's low but sometimes it even decreases..... Many people told me to reduce the videos length to less than 10 minutes but the problem is one: how can you focus a let's play session in 8 minutes or something without cutting the crap out of the video and thus reducing the overall entertaining quality?
I really want to hear some opinion about this D: .

Well I have watched your stuff and I find it quite enjoy it honestly. I like your energy. my only criticism is to maybe turn up the game volume just ever so slightly or maybe put some faint background music in. Other than that I think you just have to figure out who likes your videos and just try to expand from there. See the thing about us is that we kinda are a niche channel, focusing on let's plays of videogames that are story based, so just bring your own flare to it and if you have people watch your videos get some feedback from them, see what you can improve on. Well, the problem is I focus mainly on Let's Plays, (I am incorporating other things to the channel such as game and movie reviews which won't be longer than 10 minutes) a person can't make a video productive or have any meaning if it isn't at least 15 minutes. Which most videos I make I try to average around 20-23 minutes except for the last of us because that gane is long as hell lol. So I guess let's plays are kind of a niche thing compared to what people like to watch. The only thing I can bring to the table that is different is my personality. As well, I have a few ideas that will bring some new stuff to the table for my channel but I need a web cam for that (which is coming by mail).
