Advertising on YouTube comment sections!

As much as people complain about it, and for the most part they are right in doing so, it does seem to work, atleast for some people : )

But is it really against the rules?
 
I have gained a few people that have seen me post comments. I think its more important to post something really really nice and people will click on you and see that you are a tuber!! I have done this as well in the past and blow up the Shaytards, CTFxC and more because we do Daily Vlogs.
 
I don't like seeing "Please check my channel out" type responses on my comments be it on a video or channel discussion page because it usually reeks of desperation.
