Makes things easier to organise and caters to multiple audiences, this increases the chance of people subscribing because they can simply choose the channel with the topic of interest instead of digging through an entire channel looking for it. That said if your just starting it may be best to stick to the one channel and build a dedicated audience. Then later down the line you can think about splitting the channel. That way there will be subscribers to split with it and you wont be starting all over again.Hi All,
One thing I've noticed is that I have seen some very successful people host multiple channels simultaneously, sometimes with very similar content.
Is there any benefit to this beyond organizing your output by genre?
Steve
Whole heartedly disagree. At least if your content is extremely varied. You NEED a channel that is there to figure out your most important niche and STICK WITH IT. If you want to do anything that goes outside that niche, put it on a different channel. When you do too much different stuff, you get comments like "Where's the music???" "I thought this was a comedy channel" "Where's the vlogs man???" And then you get annoyed and lash out at one of your subscribers like I did earlier today "Well just watch the music videos, should be able to tell by the thumbnails and titles, you're a big boy you can figure it out" And look like a douche. In my opinion having multiple channels is something you should only do if you have a large audience. I have seen too many YouTubers with under 1000 have two or three channels. And if there "main" channel has 1000 subs then their second channel has 400 or less. When you are starting out, I think it is a good idea to put everything on one channel so your audience doesn't get confused and can easily find your content. However, once you gain an audience some people prefer a few channels so that their main channel isn't cluttered with content. Also, having multiple channels is always a good idea if the content varies greatly, for example acoustic music covers and lets play gaming videos. These two videos don't go together so it would be smart to put them on different channels.
I totally get where you're coming from, I just have a personal investment in this topic since being too widely varied killed my largest channel hahaha So from experience I know, confuse your audience, and they will abandon youYeah I actually agree with you, I guess I was just referring to small and newer YouTubers who have a main channel, a vlogging channel, and a gaming channel but they don't ever use them and don't what they are doing. Managing one channel is hard enough, let along three. I guess what I was trying to say was unless your content varies greatly, or you have a larger audience, just stick to one channel. Some vloggers have a second channel where they put more vlogs, and I just don't see the point, just stick to one channel. But I agree if the content is different have different channels. Music, vlogs, comedy and gaming, do seem like a lot for one channel to handle.
