AdSense's Commission

Hey all –

I'm new to YTtalk, so first off: Hello! I look forward to linking with you, learning and sharing what I know.

Speaking of learning... I've been trying to find out more about AdSense, and what kind of a percentage they take before you get paid. Is there a split like with networks? 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, etc.

Thanks!

The split I got when I signed up about a year ago was about 2/1 split. I don't know what it really is now though, it's likely lower.

I did some more digging and found this in AdSense help section.

You can view revenue share details in your account:
  1. On the Home tab, visit the Account settings page.
  2. In the "Account information" section, you'll see each revenue share displayed next to Active Products.

We believe our revenue share is extremely competitive. However, revenue shares alone can be misleading, so we encourage you to focus on the total revenue generated for your site. For example, if the Google ads on your site generate $100, with our 68% revenue share you'd receive $68 through AdSense. Another ad network might offer an 80% revenue share, but only collect $50 from advertisers, so you'd receive $40.
With the vast number of advertisers competing to appear on AdSense sites, our system ensures that you're earning the most possible for every ad impression you receive.

In my AdSense account that I only use for video, the active product is CONTENT and as the publisher I get 68% of the revenue. DO you guys have the same?

That is solely for websites. YouTube Monetization is 55%

If you're with a Network, Google takes their cut (around 50%) then the Network takes their cut out of what is given to them then they pass it on to you.

Mine doesn't have that "Search" part, it just says the 68%. I assume that means I get about 2/3 of the money generated from my adsense.

I'm assuming you're talking about a situation when a MCN is running Ads from AdSense on your content. Is Google taking that big of a cut if the network acquires the Ads directly thru their sales teams, as opposed to Ads from Google?

I'm pretty sure even direct sales are delivered via Adsense
