Adobe After Effects Takes FOREVER

Well After Effects itself will almost always render slower than most programs, I don't exactly know why but I know it does.
I've personally used a bunch of editing programs and usually just end up editing in AE because I'll leave it rendering overnight and I have around a years worth of experience in the program so far.

Hey

Here's a quick tip coming from a fellow editor: When you are rendering in After Effects, press Caps Lock! It freezes the frame that you press it on and saves After Effects from having to render and show the frame it is up to as well. This does save a lot of time! Also how much RAM do you have in your computer? That could be a reason why it is taking a while and it could also be you might have a lot of effects on video you are rendering. But try pressing Caps Lock next time you render and it should speed up the render a bit!

Hope this helped!

Thanks, I will try this. I have 8GB of RAM currently, with AE running, around 4GB is in use. I think I will have to play with the codec I use to render. I want YouTube HD quality but can't use .FLV format because Vegas doesn't support it >.>

I'm rendering a video now. Time to sleep or something. It takes so long.. O_O (Using Vegas, though)

? Do you have graphic card acceleration enabled? (CUDA or OpenGL)

Vegas never takes longer than 30mins for me.
