Yeah I noticed that too, arent most of them their own commercial plugins? I am sure things like Trapcode Particular is their own, I might be wrong though.

Hey mate i was like this when i started editing on after effects, just learn the basics like how to cut and stuff like that, then start adding other effects and get use to the program. If you put After effects basic tutorial in on youtube something should come up that will help you.

I definitely also recommend Video Copilot. I do a lot of their tutorials with my own project and assets, just using them as a general guideline for the process.
The school I attend gives students access to Lynda.com tutorials as well, but these require subscription.
