A YouTubers mother needs some help? (yes, her mother)

Hello All,

I'm a bit lost...!
My kids are all into youtube (like kids all are, right?) and they have been asked by two different Multi Channel networks to sign with them, but... now, should they? The stuff my girls do it fun, girly and "small-time" but don't want them to get stuck in a creativity-blocking contract. We now have 1 60/40 contact and... all good, but it should still be fun.

The only company the girls would like to work with is Maker Studio, they are not one of the people that contacted us by the way :) But... so now, i'm really looking for a few tips and if anyone would like to share their contracts? I know it's a big question...and will probably get "No!" But I would like to compare the contracts, because i was a bit shocked to be overwhelmed.

Anyone has any tips for me? I want to be the best mother and help them, protect them. (cant stop them, that is for sure :) )

Adriana

I'm going to guess that the 60/40 is offered by Freedom!..
If I was you, I wouldn't go with them. They take 40 percent of the channel income for really not much. Stay away from a Multi channel network until their channels are fairly large sized. Don't settle for anything under a 70/20 contract and never sign more than a year long contract. Just tips.

Hey welcome aboard, I have moved your thread here as this section is for partnership and monetization dicussion.

Which MCN's have asked you and what did they offer? Do you or they already use Adsense?

The best thing I think you can do is weigh up what they are offering and if theyre offering you something you need which for some it can be the features then make a decision based on that from there. I would only partner with a network where I am getting something out of it in return for the X percent they take for their services.

I havent come across any contracts from an MCN that will block anyones creativity, as far as I know they all allow you to upload what you like within the guidelines of YouTubes TOS.

@babyteeth4 seems like he would be the perfect consultant for this. He has a very successful channel that features you guessed it, his two little girls. Bob I hope you don't mind me tagging you just couldn't think of a better person for her to talk to.

Thank you all!
So... Base 79 contacted us, and will us a contract...but i would love to compare it to other contracts. If anyone wants to share their experiences with Multi Channel Networks? I'm very interested. I don't have the time to help my girls as much as i want with their channel, and would be great if the company can help out there too... well, would they?

I really should have read your post better hahaha I assumed you needed advice with like, how to handle letting your kids be on youtube, not just network type stuff, that's why I tagged babyteeth lol Oh well he may still know some network type stuff too :p

60% to you is terrible though, unless they offer some really amazing features, stay away.

Base79 would be better than Maker Studios (RPM/ MakerGen) and Freedom (if that's who it was) by quite a long shot but not if it was their TheYouGeneration sector, then definitely don't.

Do not go with a network offering 60/40, if your channel is small and you would see tools being helpful then try for 80-90% possibly with Fullscreen.
If the channel is medium-large I would recommend either straight away or growing and then trying to go for a contract that is 100% YouTube sales and 50-70% network sales.
