A quite big problem when playing Horror games.

Remember, I'm watching you!
Hello everybody! :)

When I record my voice when playing horror games Everything is good until I get scared and start screaming.
That sound becomes distorted and is impossible to repair.

Does anyone have any knowledge on how people like markiplier and pewdiepie solve this? ^^

I have these things when recording:
Mic: Samson C01U
Recording software: Audacity

Should I lower the gain and then amplify the "spoken" Words?

Thank you in advance and I hope some people know how to fix this ;)

I had this aswell, ruined the recording for me personally :p

Love to know how to solve it so watching this thread..:peeking2:

Try playing with the equaliser or compressor to amplify quieter noises and reduce the amplitude of peaks.

This is what I will try to do! :) But it doesn't work if the volume was to high to begin with I guess. =/
Will fiddle with the program when I get home ^^

Thanks for the suggestion! :D

P.S I do know what Supreme Commander is ;) and also Planetary annihilation (Have both games)

Watch this video, gives a great tutorial on pre-recording and editing. I use his editing methods on my later videos now, it helps a fair bit. Sometimes we get way too loud to fix it though but it helps reduce distortion and crackle xD

It's a microphone issue. You need a better one, and also decent software. I would avoid Audacity and mics that cost $20. Turtle Beach mics are BRILLIANT (they're gaming headsets, so they're designed for commentary) and Quicktime audio recorder is actually pretty decent to record your voice in high quality. It's what I used to use.

Thank you for the feedback but the samson c01u cost around $100 :p
Also it's not the commentary that gets bad it's the scream ;)

I will check for some other software to record but we will see :)
