When i upload a video to the Youtube in 1080p, It onyl goes upto 720, but im sure their are slight differences. But i have started uploading in 1080p. (Also i think my camcorders 1080p) So its all good, But generally it doesnt really matter i dont think.

It depends on the source video, if you have full HD 1080p source video then it makes sense to render it at its recording resolution, if its not then I would render it at the appropriate settings for its recording resolution otherwise the video may end up a little blurry or pixelated. For example, I have a 200px x 200px video file, I take that and render it at 1920x1080 pixels, the end video would look ridiculous.

I'll attach some pics as examples, it works similar with videos:

It makes a big difference for people watching on their TV's, there might not be millions but I believe a good amount do watch videos through their TVs these days and many have full HD TV's. If your source is full HD ie 1920px x 1080px go for 1080p, if not then go for 720p if the camcorder is capable of HD.

I think my video camera (Samsung HD handycam) is 1080p. I have a Motorola Android 3 that also has a 1080p video camera on it as well. The video on my phone almost seems better than my video camera, haha. The video camera was only a few 100 bucks anyways so its a cheapo. The one I was is about 800 bucks but its so nice!
