70% drop in recommended videos

Hello everyone,

My channel was doing better and better - until shortly. It was nothing compared by others here (90-120 views a day) but my peargroup is small. Most people found my videos by recommend from youtube or browsing. Lately there is a huge drop in recommendings from youtube. Views are down to 30 average because of that, and most views come from searching.

Does anyone understand why I have such a big drop in recommendings from youtube, and how can I reverse this spiral downwards?

Thank you for your response in advance.

I discussed this earlier, you can have a look here.

It is the lovely Youtube / google algorithm that usually destroys channels.

That typically means that the algorithm has detected that users were not responding to recommendations at a high enough rate for them to continue to be recommended; so they drop you and increase the recommendations for other videos that the algorithm tells them that people are responding to.

There is not much you can do, except perhaps improve thumbnails so people are more likely to respond to your videos and send positive signals to the algorithm.

Thank you! A few months ago, I found a page with tips to get more views, and I followed them, including improving thumbnails. My improvements gave success - until about 1,5 weeks ago. Clickfrequency should be between 2-10% according to youtube, and most of my video's had 7-9% over time. I just checked 2 video's: over the last 7 days resp. 64% and 40% drop in recommendations, but clickpercentage 18,5% and 16,4%! So there is something else going on, weird.

Thank you very much for the link. I have read all reactions and will try to implement the things I can use. I share your feelings: I do this for myself, but still, if I see a video I worked on for weeks, and I think is good, getting 3 or 4 views in 48 hours, it's really discouraging.
What I am curious about is if your channel views have improved since November?

You know, my R&D mentioned that to me and I guess it never sank in. You are dead on.

To put it in perspective, if there is a choice between you, the peasant, or someone else, a rich merchant, they choose the rich merchant. I.E. the rich get richer the poor get poorer. Fitting for a greedy corporation like Google.

The ways we can combat it is, what? Twice more work than the others? Redoing thumbnails to make them essentially click bait? Researching keywords like they actually matter?

Sorry, just in a sour mood today. Just tired of big companies screwing over the little guy. In todays day and age, it's a story told a million times over.

My channel views have gone down by 50% since November, but they are at an embarrassing low figure right now, they can't go any lower. I have @25-30 loyal subs who always watch my stuff, so the number of views reflect that. Meaning, I am getting no views outside my own little sub-bubble. Meaning, I am not getting promoted anywhere. Meaning, I am not getting shown in any suggestions. Meaning I am probably shunned by Google because I play Fallout 4 thats not exactly ball dancing and banana splits. It's violent, they swear in the game, and I swear as well (though I use a clownhorn to censor the "F" word).

Statistically speaking, I get less than 1% view to subscriber rate. @3300 subs to @30 views the first week of the video. Where are all those other people? My sub count drops @10 a month, I am sure it has to do with bots, bad channels, etc plus ones that are just purging their sub list.

Unfortuantely, It is not going to change this time around. I am not without blame for my situation, I am in a genre of videos that is so over saturated, the games I play are not unique, for the most part, and I am unwilling to spend anymore extra time or money on it knowing the track record of Google and Youtube.

Lastly, it's sad, because I would be willing to put that effort in. I never want to be a channel that has hundreds of thousand or even millions of subscribers, I just want just a bone thrown my way once in a while. "Hey this vid just hit 100 views!" is... as sad as it sounds, inspiring to me. People watched my vid, hopefully gave them a smile, maybe even a giggle.

OK, Im done now, sorry. Just not feeling it today LOL

I am so sorry to read it only got worse with your channel. My best video used to have about 48 views average in 48 hours; now my best video has 7 views. Wow. :( I am planning to upload a new video today; let's see what happens.
